The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) was launched in March 2020 as part of the passage of the CARES Act with funding for forgivable loans for small businesses. These loans are designed to help them keep employees on payroll and cover expenses like rent, mortgage, utilities, and other covered expenses (like PPE) to help them get back in business once the COVID crisis subsides.

Congress expanded the program in the stimulus legislation signed by the President on December 27, 2020. It now offers three types of PPP loans:

  • First-time PPP loans for those who have never applied.
  • Second draw PPP loans for those who got a PPP loan but need additional funding and meet specific requirements.
  • Additional funding for those who returned their first PPP loan or did not get the full amount for which they qualify.

For more information on these loan programs, visit the SCORE Small Business Resilience Resource Portal.

The Nav CARES Act Calculator helps business owners estimate their potential PPP loan amount so they can apply with confidence.

Powered by decades of business lending expertise and technology, the calculator helps simplify the complexity of a government program to make it easy for business owners to understand how much they may qualify for with SBA lenders. Please understand that guidance is evolving and this calculator is not a substitute from professional advice from legal, tax, or financial advisors.
